April was a very busy month. General conference started out our weekends and we had Grandma Anderson over to watch the Sunday afternoon session. We got out some toys to keep the boys occupied and until Mom reminded me, I had completely forgotten what we used to do with these things. Jonas until then had always strung these all together and dragged them up and down the hall all day. He calls it his "train." Well, Grandma helped us remember that by squeezing them first, you could attach them to anywhere on your body. She stuck them to Jonas's face, neck, arms, belly, legs, etc. This provided tons of laughs, but as you can imagine, we didn't catch much of conference. Still, it was fun to have a glimpse into an entertaining segment of my childhood that I had forgotten until then. Grandmas are so fun!
The next weekend was Easter Sunday. We got to enjoy a few Easter egg hunts over the weekend and I had a surreal experience that Sunday. I woke up early in the morning with the loving support of my husband to go to the temple and join the Institute choir in singing Rob Garner's "He is Jesus Christ." It is a beautiful composition that we sung in choir the last time I was in it. Since then, it has become a tradition to be performed at the temple Easter morning, and old choir members are invited back to participate. I felt very blessed to be a part of it this year again. From there I had to race to my ward to practice with the ward choir. And then I sat in the chapel to wait for the meetings to start. Jerren was running late in light of having to get the boys ready for church all by himself. It was strange to sit there and sing the hymns and take the sacrament without a child on my lap... or without something else to give my attention to. I secretly looked forward to being an empty nester :). When Jerren finally arrived I had to be up on the stand for about half the meeting to sing with the choir. I had thought of all sorts of amusing scenarios he would have been through that morning with the kids and imagined how frazzled he probably felt. But as I sat up there, the boys were perfectly behaved and Jerren looked shockingly calm and put together. I'm pretty sure I have the best husband and father of my children ever. He did good.
This Easter Daniel got introduced to Peeps. And as you can tell from the pictures, he enjoyed them a little too much. I didn't think he would be able to eat much at a time, but he proved me wrong and shoved the whole thing in his mouth, followed by another, and then he went for the whole box. He is a bottomless pit, for sure!
The next week was Jerren's 26th birthday. Everyone was sick, thanks to Daniel, so we had a small celebration. We didn't have a 6 in our candle selection, so we added up the numbers we could find to put on the cake... which Jonas couldn't keep his finger away from. I felt like a bum of a wife cause I really couldn't do much for Jerren this year, but he silently enjoyed the lack of too much attention that day. We made up for it the following week.
Happy Birthday honey! I love you the most!
